The Rotary Club of Shepperton Aurora has helped fund a vital centre for the handicapped in Southern India.

Founder member John Dumbrell first visited the Khammam Artificial Limb Centre in 2005 and was astonished to learn one in 10,000 people in rural India suffers the loss of a limb each year, through snakebites or agricultural accidents.

bmw-crash.jpgThis was the carnage after a BMW smashed through a garden wall in Shepperton and landed inches from a couple's front door.

Malcolm Atkin and partner Debi Doss heard an "almighty crash" outside their Walton Bridge Road home at 7.20am on Sunday, as the car careered out of control and demolished much of their 25ft-long wall.
