Littleton school cycle scheme hopes to beat obesity
Littleton C of E Infant School, has signed up to a groundbreaking new cycling initiative it hopes will tackle the growing issue of child obesity.
One of the first in the country to join forces with Cycle Solutions, the school hopes the Bikes4School initiative will also make money which will help invest in a better future.
Any parent of the school buying a bike from the Cycle Solutions can enter a code unique to the school which will allow them substantial discounts, with the school receiving a 5% cash commission on every sale.
Headteacher of Littleton C of E Infant School Kate Waters said: "Bikes4School is a fantastic way of getting the next generation more active. We are constantly fed stories about how today's children are more sedentary than ever, and by assisting Cycle Solutions in providing discounted cycling equipment we can really make a difference to the health of our children.
"Cycling is an easy way for pupils to get some exercise, and with interest in cycling growing, Bikes4School can really make a difference, not only to the health of our children, and the parent's pocket, but to the environment, with less short car journeys to school and back needed."
