A couple have held a double celebration, commemorating their golden wedding anniversary and the 35th birthday of their multinational maritime business.

Lynn and Val Lewis held a party at their Chertsey Road home last week, which was attended by over 80 relatives, including their two children and seven grandchildren.

Dogs of all shapes and sizes line-up outside a Shepperton vets on Wednesday to mark the start of Pet Vaccination Month.

With two-thirds of the nation's pets at risk from killer disease due to a lack of vaccinations, vet Jamie Crittall, who runs Beech House in Shepperton High Street, decided to mark the start of Pet Vaccination Month by offering injections at reduced rates.

A huge plume of smoke billowed over Laleham and Shepperton on the evening of Saturday May 16.

Police closed Littleton Lane in Shepperton to traffic while firefighters battled a massive blaze at an industrial site off the road.

Planes landing at Heathrow Airport were also affected by smoke from the fire which started at about 6.50pm.

A spokeswoman for Surrey Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire is at a range of buildings which are full of rubbish, lorries, tyres and things like that.

"There is a lot of smoke damage and there is the chance that it is of suspicious origin.

"A lot of black smoke was caused, which has affected planes trying to land at Heathrow."

Eyewitnesses reported seeing four ambulances rushing to the scene, but no one is thought to have been injured.

HRH The Princess Royal will make an official visit to Shepperton Studios on Wednesday May 20 to gain an understanding of the variety of craft skills required in filmmaking.
The Princess Royal will be given a private tour of the sets and wardrobes for Ridley Scott's untitled Robin Hood adventure as well as a set from Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang, both currently being staged at Shepperton.

Casualty reduction officer Mike Pritchard will be the special guest a police meeting on Wednesday May 20 at the Greeno Centre, Glebeland Gardens, at 7.30.

The next Meeting of the Shepperton Residents' Association takes place at the Village Hall, High Street, in two parts on June 23, starting at 8pm.

It will begin with a talk by George Monck , chief executive of CleanupUK, entitled "Litter! Who's Responsible?" followed by a question and answer session.

The second part, from 9pm-10pm, will be chaired by Councillor Robin Sider, and will be the debut of the 'Have Your Say' area forums, during which borough and county councillors will be on hand to address residents' concerns.
